Time to go deeper into Desire, Willpower, and Self -Discipline…

Prologue:

“Standing in front of my childhood home on May 1, 2026, built in 1874 just 10 years after the abolition of slavery in the United States, I found myself reflecting on where it all began. This was the place where I first started to understand—without even having the language for it—the power of desire, willpower, and self-discipline. I grew up a poor inner-city kid in Northwest Ohio, but I didn’t know I was poor. I had everything I needed. More importantly, I had a mind that was already reaching into the future, driven by a strong and undeniable desire for something more.

That desire didn’t feel like it came from me alone. It felt like it was given to me—planted in me by a source far greater than my circumstances. It opened my eyes to possibilities beyond what I could see around me. And over time, I began to understand something even more powerful: that I could use my willpower to direct my mind away from the limitations of my environment and toward the life I envisioned. That shift—intentional, focused, and repeated—became the bridge between where I started and where I am today.

What followed was the development of self-discipline—the daily application of that vision through action. It was through disciplined thinking, learning, and behavior that I began to reprogram my life. Standing there, 59 years after those early realizations first took root, I can see clearly that this simple but powerful framework—desire, willpower, and self-discipline—has been the foundation of every meaningful transformation in my life.

Desire Comes from the Soul—

Willpower Forces the Mind to Change—

and Self-Discipline Commands the Body to Follow”

There is a simple truth about transformation that most people never fully understand;

You are not just one thing.

You are three.

You are soul, mind, and body—and each has a role in the creation of your life.

When your life is not changing, it’s not because you lack potential. It’s because these three are not aligned.

The Three-Part System That Creates Your Life

Let’s break this down.

1. The Soul — Where Desire Lives

Your soul is the source of desire.

It is the place where vision originates.

It is connected to something deeper—call it universal intelligence, life energy, or simply God—but it knows what you want before your mind ever explains it.

That moment when you see something and say:

“I want that life.”

“I want to become that.”

“I want to experience that.”

“I want to create that…”

That’s not random. That is your soul speaking.

That’s Desire. And it has all the power of the universe behind it to manifest, but only if and when you realize that fact...

Desire is direction.

2. The Subconscious Mind — Where Life Creating System (LCS) Programs Run

Your subconscious mind is the organizer.

The planner.

The processor.

But more importantly—it is the keeper of programs.

As we’ve discussed before, your mind has two regions:

  • The conscious mind (focus, learning, decision, and programming.)

  • The subconscious mind (automation, habit, execution)

The conscious mind can do one thing at a time.

The subconscious mind can run thousands of programs simultaneously.

That’s why you can:

  • walk, talk, and think at the same time

  • drive a car while holding a conversation

  • cook a recipe from memory while organizing you plans for the weekend in your head

  • switch between languages midsentence if you’ve learned them

All of that is programming.

Installed.

Running.

Automatically.

And here’s the key:

Your life is largely the output of your subconscious LCS programming.

3. The Body — Where Life Is Executed

Your body is the instrument.

It is the physical mechanism through which your life is lived.

Your hands, your feet, your mouth, your eyes, your ears, your actions, your behaviors—

all are directed by the subconscious mind.

The body does not decide. It simply executes.

So Why Don’t People Change?

Because the LCS (Life Creating System) is running exactly as it was programmed.

The subconscious mind wakes up every day and runs the same scripts:

  • the same routines

  • the same habits

  • the same reactions

  • the same comfort zones

  • the same avoidance patterns

  • Go to the same job

  • Think the same thoughts.

  • Take the same actions.

Get the same results.

Where Transformation Actually Begins

Transformation does not begin in the body.

It does not even begin in the mind.

It begins in the soul.

With desire.

A vision.

A realization that something different is possible.

But desire alone is not enough. Because the mind is already programmed.

And it will default to what it knows.

The Role of Willpower

This is where most people fail. Because this is where effort is required.

Willpower is not automatic, it has to be summoned by the soul…

Willpower is the force the soul uses to command the conscious mind.

It is the decision:

“I will not continue to think, act, or operate the way I have been.”

Willpower interrupts the default.

It overrides the programming.

It forces the conscious mind to focus on something new:

  • a new idea

  • a new skill

  • a new way of thinking

  • a new possibility

This is where study happens.

Where learning happens.

Where new programming begins to form.

Without willpower—the subconscious programming never changes.

And if the subconscious programming never changes—niether will your life.

The Role of Self-Discipline

Once the subconscious programming begins to change… the mind can now command the body in new and different ways because a new LCS has been installed!

Self-discipline is how the mind directs the body to act differently.

This is where execution lives.

This is where habits are rewritten.

This is where repetition completes the installation of the new LCS programming into the subconscious mind.

Self-discipline says:

  • go to the gym when you don’t feel like it

  • study when you’d rather scroll

  • build when you’d rather delay

  • act when you’d rather avoid

This is not about motivation.

This is about instruction.

The mind telling the body — “We are doing this now.”

And doing it again.

And again.

Until it becomes normal.

From Effort to Automatic

At first, it feels unnatural.

Because it is.

You are overriding years—sometimes decades—of programming.

But over time through repetition, the new behaviors become familiar.

Then comfortable.

Then automatic.

And once they are automatic—they move from the conscious mind into the subconscious mind.

That is reprogramming.

That is mastery.

And Then Something Powerful Happens

Your life begins to change.

Not because you are trying harder.

But because you are operating differently.

Automatically.

Consistently.

Aligned.

Your body now executes a new set of instructions.

Your habits reflect a new identity.

Your results begin to shift.

And what once felt difficult…becomes who you are.

Invest 5 Minutes to Snap Yourself Into a New Reality

1. Identify a Desire

What is your soul calling you toward right now?

Be honest.

2. Apply Willpower to Your Mind

What must you start thinking about, learning, or studying differently?

Where must you focus?

3. Define One Action

What must your body do differently—today?

Not tomorrow.

Today.

4. Execute with Discipline

Do it.

Regardless of how you feel.

5. Repeat

Because repetition is what installs the new LCS program.

Here’s an Idea

Maybe your life hasn’t changed yet... not because you don’t want more…

But because you haven’t aligned your system. You still have time.

Because the truth is:

Desire comes from the soul—

willpower forces the mind to change—

and self-discipline commands the body to follow.

And when those three align—

Your future has no choice but to change.

If this gave you clarity—

share it with someone who is ready to stop wishing…

and start becoming.
