The Starting Line Is Right Under Your Feet… Right Now!

“The starting line isn’t somewhere else.
It’s exactly where you’re standing—
with what you already have,
and who you already know.”
Let me tell you a truth that most people spend years—sometimes decades—never realizing:
You don’t need anything more to begin.
Not more money.
Not more connections.
Not a different city.
Not better timing.
Just a decision.
The Moment It Begins
Every goal—no matter how big, bold, or audacious—begins the exact same way:
The moment you decide.
The moment you write it down.
The moment you focus your mind on it.
That’s the starting line.
And here’s what’s powerful…
That moment doesn’t happen somewhere else.
It happens right where you are.
The Myth That Keeps People From Making a Beginning
Most people believe they need to “get ready” before they start.
They tell themselves:
“I need more experience…”
“I need more money…”
“I need better connections…”
“I need to be in the right place…”
But that’s not preparation.
That’s delay.
Because if you study anyone who has achieved something extraordinary, you’ll find the same pattern:
Oprah Winfrey didn’t start with influence—she built it.
Mark Zuckerberg didn’t start with billions—he started in a dorm room.
Bill Gates didn’t start with Microsoft—he started with curiosity and code.
Lady Gaga didn’t start on global stages—she started wherever she could.
Different goals.
Different paths.
Same starting point… the beginning.
My Story: Age 11
I learned this early.
At 11 years old, I made a decision that would shape the next decade of my life.
I decided that I was going to:
Earn a degree in computer programming
Learn how to program IBM systems
Go to work for Owens Corning Fiberglass
By age 21
I was 11.
Now let’s be clear…
I didn’t have:
A college plan
Money for tuition
A roadmap
A network in corporate America
I was the youngest child in a single-parent household.
But I had something more important:
A decision. A goal with a deadline date…
And that decision created a starting point.
Progressive Revelation: The Missing Piece
Here’s the concept most people don’t understand—and it’s the reason they hesitate to start:
Progressive Revelation
Progressive revelation means this:
the path forward is revealed to you step-by-step only as you move.
You don’t get the full blueprint upfront.
You don’t see steps 10, 20, or 50 at the beginning.
You see step one.
And when you take step one…
step two reveals itself.
If you take that…
step three appears.
But if you stand still?
Nothing is revealed.
Why People Stay Stuck
Most people want certainty before they act.
They want:
The full plan
The guaranteed outcome
The risk removed
But life doesn’t work that way.
Clarity follows action—not the other way around.
So they wait.
And while they wait…
Nothing new is revealed.
Because revelation requires movement.
10 Years Later
I didn’t know every step at 11.
I didn’t have a master plan mapped out to the end.
What I had was:
A clear vision
A goal
A reason why
A starting point
A willingness to move
And as I progressed…
Teachers appeared.
Opportunities emerged.
Decisions clarified themselves.
Money showed up.
The path revealed itself.
And in early December—the exact year I had targeted—
I received a job offer from Owens Corning Fiberglass, accepted it, and went to work as an IBM software engineer.
The goal was accomplished.
Not because I had everything when I started…
But because I started—and kept moving.
The Pattern Repeats
This is how every major outcome in my life has happened:
Starting a company
Living part-time in the Dominican Republic
Expanding my experiences and opportunities
Building a dream home
None of these began with full certainty.
They began with a decision—and then movement.
And with each step forward… the next step was revealed.
The Truth Most People Miss
Here’s the truth:
You don’t build the entire path before you start.
You discover the path by walking it.
Your location is not a limitation.
Your resources are not a barrier.
Your network is not fixed.
They are simply your starting coordinates.
And the moment you move—reality begins to reorganize around you.
Invest 5 Minutes to Snap Yourself Into a New Reality
1. Define the Goal
What have you been thinking about—but haven’t started?
2. Acknowledge the Truth
You don’t need more to begin. Write that down.
3. Identify What You Already Have
Skills
Resources
People
Access
You have more than you think.
4. Choose Step One
Not the whole plan.
Just the next action.
5. Move—Immediately
Do something now.
Because the moment you move…
the next step will reveal itself.
Concluding Thoughts…
Stop waiting for the full path. You’ll never see it.
Instead—take the first step and trust the process of progressive revelation.
Because the truth is:
The starting line isn’t somewhere else.
And the path?
It’s waiting for you to move.
So start.
And if this hit you—if this shifted your thinking—
share it with someone who’s still waiting for clarity…
Because clarity doesn’t come first.
Movement does.
