The Line Most People Never Cross

Let me say this as plainly as I can:
The life, career, business, and relationship you want
require actions you’re not yet taking.
That’s it.
Not more information.
Not more time.
Not better circumstances.
Different actions.
And here’s where it gets real…
If you want what you’ve never had—
you must cross that line.
Most People See the Line… and Stop
Everyone has a line.
It’s the invisible boundary between:
What’s familiar
And what’s possible
On one side:
Comfort. Predictability. Routine.
On the other side:
Growth. Expansion. New identity.
Most people walk right up to that line…
And stop.
They think about it.
They talk about it.
They rationalize why now isn’t the right time.
And then they step back.
I Crossed That Line Early
Let me take you back.
When I was a kid—around nine years old—I made a decision:
I was going to live in Colorado.
Not visit.
Live.
I wanted the mountains. The lifestyle. The energy of the Rockies… Skiing. Hiking. Exploring. White Water Rafting. Living a bigger life.
Now think about that…
A kid from Toledo, Ohio—a smokestack industrial environment—deciding he’s going to build a life in Colorado.
There was no plan.
No connections.
No guarantee.
Just a decision.
Then I Did What Most People Never Do
I didn’t just dream about it.
I built toward it.
I set a path:
Finish high school
Finish college
Go to work at Owen’s Corning Fiberglas
Build experience
Prepare for the move
Get a job there with relocation assistance
And then, when the time came…
I acted.
July 18th, 1981 with new job secured, I packed up my life and moved to Colorado Springs.
No network.
No friends or family.
No safety net.
No familiar environment.
Just a decision backed by action.
The Moment Everything Changed
I still remember that first morning.
Waking up…
Looking out…
And seeing the Rockies with colorful hot air balloons floating over the snow capped summit of Pikes Peak against a backdrop of an azure blue sky with whispy white clouds ☁️.
It was surreal… I had to pinch myself.
A completely different reality than anything I had ever known.
In that moment, it hit me:
I had crossed the line.
And everything on the other side was now my reality…
Here’s What You Need to Understand
That reality didn’t happen when I arrived.
It happened the moment I decided to do something I had never done.
The move was just the visible result.
The real shift happened when I:
Left the familiar
Took new action
Stepped into uncertainty
That’s where transformation lives.
You Already Know Your Line
Right now… you know exactly where your line is.
It’s the thing:
You’ve been thinking about
You’ve been putting off
You’ve been justifying not doing
That action…
That conversation…
That decision…
That’s the line.
And Here’s the Truth
You don’t need more clarity.
You don’t need more confidence.
You don’t need the perfect plan.
You just need to cross it.
Because on the other side of that line is not just a new result…
It’s a new version of you.
Now It’s Time… Invest 5 Minutes to Snap Yourself Into a New Reality
Let’s make this real.
1. Reflect
What is the line you’ve been standing in front of?
Be honest.
Where are you hesitating?
2. Write
Complete this sentence:
“The action I know I need to take—but haven’t—is ______.”
Don’t filter it.
Write the truth.
3. Act
Take one step within the next 24 hours.
Not the whole journey.
Just the crossing.
Because once you cross the line…
You don’t go back.
Final Thought
The life, career, business, or relationship you want is not far away.
It’s not complicated.
It’s not reserved for someone else.
It’s sitting right on the other side of a line you already know you need to cross.
If you want what you’ve never had—
you must cross that line.
