You Are Living One Reality—But it’s Likely by Default


Let me challenge something you probably take for granted:


The life you’re living right now… Feels like the reality… But it’s not.


It’s just one of an unlimited number of alternative realities available to you in this very moment.


And here’s the part most people never fully grasp: You are not trapped in your current reality. You are voluntarily reinforcing it!


Alternative Realities Are Always Present


At any given moment, there are countless alternative realities you could be living.


You select into them through different:


  • Decisions

  • Actions

  • Locations

  • Relationships


All available. All real. But you can only experience one at a time. And the one you are experiencing is the one you are aligned to.


Take a minute to pause here and meditate 🧘🏾 on that…


Your Present Reality Is Like Driving on a 10-Lane Highway in Lane 1


Think about it this way. You’re on a 10-lane highway. Right now, you’re in lane 1. It feels natural. Familiar. Automatic.


But right next to you are lanes 2, 3, 4… all the way to lane 10. Think of them as adjacent alternative realities.


If you want to be in lane 3 you don’t wish your way there. You don’t hope your way there.


You make a decision… And you change lanes.


That’s reality shaping.


A Real Example—Happening Right Now


Let’s make this even more real.


Right now, let’s say it’s 6:00 a.m. in Houston, Texas. You’re just waking up. Maybe you’re tired. Maybe you’re thinking about your routine. Maybe you’re about to get up, brush your teeth, and go start your day… Maybe even go do your laundry.


That’s one reality.


But at that exact same moment in time… It’s 1:00 p.m. in Barcelona, Spain.


The sun is high.

Sidewalk cafés are full.

People are sitting outside, laughing, having brunch, sipping coffee, planning their afternoon.


That is not a fantasy.


That is a real, active, concurrent-moment reality.


And here’s the key:


You could be there.


Not magically.


But intentionally.


You could have:


  • Made the decision 3 weeks ago to fly to Barcelona yesterday.

  • Booked the flight

  • And changed your present reality…


And instead of laundry 🧺 in the next few hours you could be on the beach 🏖️ with friends enjoying the sun and surf.


Same moments in time. Completely different reality.


Let That Land


The difference between those two realities?


Not luck.

Not fate.


Choice.

Decision.

Action.


But Most People Live by Default


Here’s why people find themselves stuck. They don’t see the other lanes. They think they're on a one lane, one way road and that's all there is. They fail to ever think meta-contextually.


As a result, they never see the alternatives.


So they stay in:


  • The same environment

  • The same routines

  • The same thinking


And over time…


That becomes their “only” reality.


Reality Is Not Fixed—It Is Opted Into


You don’t “find” a better life.


You don’t wait for a different reality.


You select and shape it.


And that starts with one realization:


There are always an infinate number of muti-directional alternative lanes (realities) available for you to choose from on your journey through life.


How You Shift Into a New Reality


You don’t teleport.


You transition.


1. See the Alternatives


Ask:


“What alternative reality could I be living right now?”


Awareness creates possibility.


2. Decide to Change Lanes


Nothing changes until you decide.


Lane 1 → Lane 3 doesn’t happen automatically.


You choose it.


3. Act Into It


You don’t arrive instantly. You turn the steering wheel and move toward it.


  • You make the call

  • You book the ticket

  • You change the routine

  • You take the step


And with each action…


You shift lanes in the direction of greater happiness.


Why This Matters to Your Happiness


If you don’t consciously choose your reality you will unconsciously repeat the one you’ve defaulted into.


And one day you’ll look up and realize:


You didn’t design your life. You drifted into it and unfortunately your time is nearly up.


Now It’s Time… Invest 5 Minutes to Snap Yourself Into a New Reality


1. Reflect

Where in your life are you sitting in “lane 1”… just because it’s familiar?


2. Write

Complete this:


“An alternative reality available to me right now that will enhance my happiness is ______.”


Be bold.


Be honest.


3. Act

Take one action that moves you toward that reality.


Not someday.


Today.


Because the moment you act differently… You begin to live differently.


Final Thought


There are always alternative realities available to you.


Always.


The question is not whether they exist.


The question is:


Are you aware enough to see them… and decisive enough to choose one that better suites your happiness?


Because your life is not locked in. It’s not fixed. It’s not final until your era comes to a close.


Until then, it’s simply the the lane you’re currently in. And you can always change lanes anytime you decide to.
