Every "yes" consumes a piece of your life. Every "no" protects one!
Up until now, I''ve been teaching the components of something I call life architecture:
Vision
Identity
Goals
Deadlines
Programming
Environment
Fitness & Health
Relationships
Etc...
These are all building materials.
This post introduces the governing principle. It answers the question:
Why should I care about any of these things?
Because...
Life is finite.
And every yes consumes a piece of it.
That changes everything.
Life Architecture, Like Home Architecture, Begins with Scarcity
Every architect starts with constraints.
A lot size.
A budget.
Building codes.
Available materials.
The architect's genius is designing a dream home within those constraints.
Human life has exactly one UNIVERSAL constraint:
Time (the unit of measure of life)
Or, more accurately...
Life Expectancy (Your Era)
You don't have unlimited life with which to experiment.
Therefore every yes has a high opportunity cost.
That's what I mean when I say:
Every "yes" consumes a piece of your life. Every "no" protects one.
This isn't productivity wisdom.
It's an imperative to architect your dream life if you want to get the most out of it.
In my next few posts I will unpack this governing principal or you.
Until then…
