Consistency Beats Circumstances

(Desplácese hacia abajo para leer en español.)

Last night I landed in Orlando for work.

The flight was delayed. By the time we touched down it was around 11:30 PM. By the time I made it through the airport, grabbed a ride, and checked into the hotel, it was close to 1:00 AM.

Most people would look at that situation and say the same thing:

“Tomorrow morning I’ll skip the gym.”

After all, that would be a reasonable decision.

Late night.

Little sleep.

Long day ahead.

But this morning at 5:30 AM, I was in the gym.

Not because it was convenient.

Not because I felt particularly rested.

But because consistency matters more than circumstances.

The Fallacy of Perfect Circumstances

One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that we will act when the conditions are right.

When we have more time.

When we are better rested.

When the schedule clears up.

When I have more money.

But the truth is that perfect conditions almost never arrive.

Life is like an uncharted river, with many twists and turns along its course.

Flights get delayed.

Schedules get crowded.

Energy levels fluctuate.

The economy shifts.

If you wait for perfect conditions to act, you likely never will! You see, the clock is always ticking and the end of your era will come sooner than you think.

Progress belongs to the people who show up even when conditions aren’t ideal.

Consistency Is the Real Secret

People often think success comes from big bursts of effort.

But that’s rarely true.

Real transformation happens because of something much quieter:

Consistency.

The person who exercises once a week with heroic intensity will not outperform the person who shows up every day with consistent discipline.

The person who reads a book once a year will not outgrow the person who reads a few pages every day.

The person who occasionally pursues their goals will never outperform the one who moves forward daily. In fact they will likely never achieve the big ones.

Consistency compounds like interest in a savings account.

Small actions repeated over time become powerful forces.

The Only Bad Workout

There’s an old saying in the fitness world that I’ve always liked:

The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen.

A short workout still moves the body.

A light workout still builds the habit.

A tired workout still strengthens discipline.

And sometimes the greatest benefit of showing up is not physical at all.

It’s psychological.

You prove something to yourself. Successful salespeople know this.

You prove that your standards and your results are not controlled by circumstances.

The Discipline of Showing Up

Consistency is not about intensity.

It’s about identity.

It’s about deciding the kind of person you are.

Are you the person who acts only when conditions are comfortable?

Or are you the person who shows up anyway?

When you consistently show up—even when it’s inconvenient—you begin to build something powerful.

You build self-trust.

And self-trust becomes the foundation for everything else in life.

Invest 5 Minutes to Snap Yourself Into a New Reality!

Take five minutes right now and do this simple exercise.

Reflect

What is one habit you know would improve your life if you practiced it consistently?

Exercise?

Reading?

Learning a skill?

Warm / Cold Calling 10 prospects each day?

Calling someone you care about?

Write

Complete this sentence:

“One small action I will practice consistently is ______.”

Act

Do that action today, even if it’s small. Then repeat it tomorrow, and again for the next 5 days for a total of 7, no matter what the conditions of the day are.

Because consistency doesn’t require perfect conditions.

It simply requires that you show up.

Your new reality and success begin the moment you do.

Te demuestras algo a ti mismo.
